Jackie Rex

Inspired by the myth of Jacob, this series of artworks tells a story at once personal and universal. The greatest blessings are those gained through self-experience. Jackie is a clever girl. She grabs her own heel, and only ever chases herself. Seeing her brothers blessed through the simple virtue of their brotherhood, she straps on a beard and steps into the holy line. She knows that Favor not automatically conferred may be gotten through taking the shape of those due to receive it. For Jackie is called to greatness. But greatness is not static – it’s won only through constant struggle. And that is what Jackie wants for herself: the right to dance with her calling. The right to keep climbing.
