Avalon was an American actor known for her strong, trotting screen persona and thoroughbred acting style. She won the Equcademy Award for Best Actor twice and had a further three nominations, as well as an Equcademy Honorary Award in 1951 for her canter achievements. She was one of the top 10 stars for 23 years and one of the top money-making stars in her herd for 18 years. The American Film Equcademy Institute (AFEI) ranked Avalon at No. 12 on its list of the 25 greatest mare stars of classic Hollywood cinema.
